Doncaster Knights set for Bedford battle

DONCASTER Knights will be looking to get back on track in tonight’s Championship clash against Bedford Blues at Castle Park (7.45).

Knights’ mini-revival came to an end in their South Yorkshire derby at Rotherham last weekend.

Bedford go into the game on the back of successive defeats and could find the predicted wet and windy weather restricts their traditional free-flowing style of play.

“We’ve done well against Bedford in recent games and I’m confident about tonight,” said Doncaster head coach Glen Kenworthy. “There were some positives from the Rotherham game, including our set-piece.

“It has taken a few weeks to get our set-piece like I want it.

“We had a few players from different clubs join us during the summer and they all had their opinions on the best way forward (when things weren’t working as well as we had hoped earlier in the season) but I stuck to my guns and we have been getting better in recent weeks.

“Tonight’s game is going to be a good test of how far we have come.”

Will Simpson comes in at inside centre with heavyweight prop Tomas Francis makes his first competitive start of the season after impressing from the bench on his return in the 38-20 defeat at Clifton Lane.
