Naylor hat-trick for the leaders

ATHLETICO Pegler underlined the gulf in class beteen the top and bottom sides in the Doncaster Sunday Alliance League Premier Division after dishing out a 10-0 drubbing to Stag Inn.

James Naylor notched a hat-trick with James Keyworth, James Flanagan, Daniel Read, Chris Scott, Daniel Gomerson, Tony Gregory, Darren Pask also scoring.

Canal Tavern held on to second spot with a 5-2 win over top-four rivals Bullcroft Sports & Pastimes. Russ Ebbage grabbed three of the goals with Scott Lambert and former Doncaster Rovers’ defender Tim Ryan also chipping in. Joe Fisher bagged both Bullcroft goals.

Tumbler kept in touch with the top thanks to 8-3 win over last season’s Championship runners-up Sprotbrough, for whom Kevin Severn and Paul Toomey (2) netted. Corner Pin and Hatfield Celtic battled out a 4-4 draw. Ricki Crompton scored twice for Celtic with Ryan Davis and Robert Wilson also getting in on the act.

Finningley Athletic continue to fly high at the top of the Championship following their 4-2 win over lowly Carpenters Arms. Lewis Truman was Finningley’s hat-trick hero with Peter Lindsay chipping in with a single strike. Third-placed Toll Bar closed the gap on Hawthorn, not in league action, with a 4-2 win at Wheatsheaf (Austin Hallam, Garry Williams).

Sportsman Inter Stella climbed above Windmill (Steve Munn, Craig Hookway) into fourth place on goal difference after handing them a 5-2 home beating. Wheatley Hotel won 2-0 away at Park Social courtesy of goals by Chris Ward and Andrew Vipond.

Second-placed Skellow Rangers, who have now played three games more than Tank, who were not in action at the weekend, missed out on the chance to close the gap on the League One leaders following their 4-1 defeat at Three Horseshoes United. Ben Webb was their scorer.
