Charlie Dutton got his side off the mark, Joshua Leyssons doubled the lead following a cracking ball from Ben Hudson before second-half goals came from Tyler Matthewman, Jack Hughes (2) and man of the match Sam Oldfield, who was fantastic throughout.

But Howden got their revenge with a 2-0 win in the second game as Thorpe began slowly. Both goals came in the first half and William Barnes would have got onto the scoresheet but for a good save.

Sophie Rhodes was player of the match for her passing and defending skills, with further fine displays from Billy Simpson, Callum Balderson, Elliot Wright and Corbin Purcell.
