ON-SONG striker Paddy Madden says the freedom afforded to him by boss Gary Johnson has helped him net ten goals in his last seven games.
The 22-year-old swept to the League One player of the month award for January, seeing off competition from Rovers skipper Rob Jones.
And the Irishman says he has a new found confidence since his permanent switch from Carlisle in January.
Madden said: “The gaffer here lets us play with freedom. You make mistakes and he doesn’t mind when you’re working hard.
“There’s no pressure on us to go out and perform, it’s up to us to go out and do it.
“He’s given me my opportunity and people are starting to see what I’m all about, that I can score in the league.
“I’m getting my opportunities here now.
“My team-mates keep creating the chances and I’m just putting the ball in the net.
“Down here there’s a great chilled vibe and the place is buzzing because of where we are in the table.”
Madden scored seven goals while on loan with Yeovil between October and January, leading to the Glovers to make the deal permanent at a reported cost of just £25,000.
Boss Johnson has since labelled the striker as the signing of the season.
Johnson says his side have nothing to fear when they head to the Keepmoat.
The Glovers have won a club record eight straight league games to move within a point of top spot in the congested League One upper echelons.
And with confidence oozing from his side, Johnson is not daunted by the trip to fellow promotion chasers Rovers, a game he describes as Yeovil’s ‘biggest of the season.’
“There seems to be a lot of confidence in the camp so we’re not going to be daunted by going to Doncaster because of our previous form,” Johnson said.
“They’ve had a change in manager so whether we can make any positives out of that is left to be seen.
“They obviously don’t seem to be on top of their form at the moment.
“What we have done in the last eight games is just worry about us, making sure that we were ready and seeing what happens then.
“I’m familiar with Brian Flynn and quite a few of the Donny players so they’re not going to be a surprise to us.
“We know what they’ve got and we know their strengths.
“By the time the game comes we know that we can pick out a couple of their weaknesses.”
