CLIFFE Reserves will feel unlucky to come away without a point from a game that saw them hit the woodwork at least twice and see a number of chances go begging.

The hosts were undone on the stroke of half-time when a left-footed effort rifled into the top corner to open the scoring for Tadcaster Town Reserves.

Cliffe were eager to respond quickly with Ben Rawson coming close a number of times as Dave Hebson’s side continued to carve out chances. Aaron Lees also proved a constant thorn in Town’s side with his hard-work down the right wing.

Despite testing Town’s keeper on several occasions and the woodwork coming to their rescue following Rawson and Nathan Parker efforts, the home side failed to find the elusive equaliser.

Cliffe were soon made to pay for their missed chances when Town doubled the lead in the second-half through a solo effort that took a troublesome bounce in front of the keeper.

That goal signalled a frustrating overall performance for Cliffe, who were welcoming the return of Jay Grundy (pictured), as Town came away with the maximum points haul.
