Following the success of a similar course in the spring, Selby Cricket Club will be holding another coaching camp for juniors during the coming half-term holiday.
The earlier camp raised money for the Selby Times-backed Hands of Hope charity, helping local people in need, who will again benefit from the four-day course along with the Thomas Cammack Appeal to continue the fight against the deadly cancer which claimed the four-year-old Selby boy.
It is being held at the club from June 5-8 from 9am to 4.30pm, with extended hours available from 8 to 5.30. Catering for all abilities from beginners to club or even county players aged six to 13 and led by Jamie Wheeler, the cost is £60 or £15 per day plus a small extra for extended hours.
Children attending the full camp will receive a free goodie bag including a ball and vouchers along with a certificate, a player evaluation form and the opportunity to win various awards for aspects such as improvement, sportsmanship and a star performance.
The first three days will be structured to improve all aspects of the game and the course will again culminate with a World Cup Day when they will represent various nations in a fun competition. A coaching workbook will also be handed out to enable children to evaluate their progress and record what they have learnt.
Bookings are being taken on a first come, first served basis for the 40 available places. Contact Jamie at jamie.wheeler91@yahoo.co.uk or on 07540 112031. He said: “Our coaches make sure we get the best out of each child.”
