Selby MP John Grogan has submitted his entry for the inaugural Wistow 10-mile race, the new event being organised by Selby Striders following the demise through lack of sponsorship and the ongoing expense of necessary road closures of the popular Half Marathon.
Mr Grogan had campaigned to keep the 13.1 mile event going, but organisers capitulated to the inevitable consequence of a downturn in the economy.
The Wistow 10 will take place in September and use a similar, though obviously shorter, route which is only expected to involve a very temporary road closure.
