Farmer reaps cricket harvest

It took the big hands of farmer David Bramley to turn the game around for Burn who pulled off an eight-run HPH Cup victory over Wheldrake as they defied the wet weather in a reduced overs match at Escrick Park.
With the home side in the ascendancy and the swollen ball resembling a freshly dug spud, captain Ashley Abbott brought Bramley into the attack. He duly took hold of the King Edward and soon had Walker snared at point by the reliable hands of Watson for an impressive 24, and a wicket with his next ball all but sealed victory for the Linnets.
Saturday's inclement weather prevented most other matches from getting off the ground.
