After three successive defeats, Carlton Towers at last turned things around as they dramatically chased down New Earswick's 224 for 5 for an emphatic 30-point victory in Division 2 of the York Senior League.
It followed a traumatic week off the field with leading run-scorer Stuart Coleman leaving the club and six players crying off from the original teams selected due to illness, work commitments and communication breakdowns.
Towers must have felt everything was against them, especially when Mark Holmes lost the toss and the visitors elected to bat on a Fishpond Field pitch which has received the league's highest marks for the first half of the season.
