Kit sponsors would be welcome to back the forthcoming charity cricket match between the Selby Times and Burn Cricket Club.
Team lists are currently being drawn up with your favourite weekly read having to rely on a few invitations to outside players as well as their sister papers. And some surprise names may emerge when the dust has settled.
But the scribes need to look the part, even if some of them haven't faced a cricket ball for years.
The sports editor will lead a team to take on the village club under their first team vice-captain Nigel Croad, a former Selby Town footballer who also spent time with this newspaper on work experience some years ago.
The match has been arranged for Sunday July 12 with proceeds to be shared between Christians Against Poverty's Selby branch and our own Hands of Hope charity – both of which are dedicated to supporting local people in need.
Any firm wishing to weigh in for charity by sponsoring kit for the Selby Times team should call the sports editor, Charles Gardner, on 01757 702198.
