WORK is never dull for Snaith area police officer Janet Anderson with neighbourhood, drink and crime prevention issues arising almost every day.
The Selby Times Community Pride Award finalist has given a snapshot of her duties, attending police call-outs in the town, Rawcliffe and surrounding patch.
She said: "Working as a neighbourhood police officer, you get to see and experience so many things residents don't get to hear or know about.
"I really enjoy being a neighbourhood officer. Not only do I get to meet the people who live and work here, I can tackle crime and disorder for the residents and visitors."
Cases recently attended by PC Anderson and her colleagues include two men who were aggressive to staff at the Bell and Crown public house.
The incident led to an arrest for drink driving and licence offences, while a third man was detained and fined for insulting attending police officers.
Two girls received a reprimand from Sgt Jo Matthews in Pontefract Road on October 30 after assaulting a female, and in a separate incident a man received a caution for possession of a controlled drug after a fight broke out in an alleyway.
PC Anderson, pictured with her long service and good conduct medal, added: "This is just a small snap-shot of the type of jobs your local neighbourhood officers and incident response teams are tackling.
"I must say thank you to the members of the public for acting quickly and contacting the police. In many of the above incidents, suspects were located thanks to their calls.
"My colleagues and I are working hard to encourage more members of the public to report incidents and to work with us in preventing and detecting crime."
