ACADEMIC and sporting achievement was recognised during a special ceremony last Thursday night.
The Snaith School Upper School presentation evening celebrated the success of current year 11 students and those who left last year after their GCSE exams.
Chairman of governors Sheena Young praised the achievements and record examination results. The event had been postponed from November following the death of teacher Rhoda Baddon, who was a much-loved and respected member of staff, and is greatly missed by both colleagues and pupils alike.
The evening was enriched by music from both soloists and bands, while certificates were presented by Snaith and Cowick Mayor Coun Graham Hulme, who attended with his wife Sally.
The evening concluded with a delicious buffet provided by the school catering staff.
Among main prize winners were: Shakespeare Award – Emily Britton; The Kiri Haywood Award for Engineering – Richard Duffin; The Matthew Mintern Award for Outstanding Achievement – Daniel Bates; The Joshua Murdock Trophy for Most Improved Sportsperson – Rebecca Martin; The Waddington Cup – Jack Hargreaves; Prefect Endeavour Award – Emma Gill; Prefect Social Endeavour Award – Daniel Bates; Governors' Award – Anna Hinchcliffe and Dale Worsfold.
