EXCITED youngsters from Snaith and Cowick were wide-eyed with wonder during a fun day at Snaith Fire Station last week.
The summer playscheme event raised £150 for the group, which has run for children in the two villages for the past 30 years.

Play leader Eileen Lister said: "The Snaith and Cowick summer playscheme caters for youngsters aged five to 12, and at last week's fund-raiser, the children were fascinated by the engines and fire-fighting equipment.

"In addition, there was a tombola, bring-and-buy sale, refreshments and games. The summer scheme runs for four weeks during the school holidays, and caters for about 70 to 80 children.

"We're always after clothes, handbags and shoes to help raise money. Anyone who can donate such items can contact me on 01405 860369. Our next fund-raiser will be a fashion show on March 28 in the Snaith and District Community Sports Hall in Pontefract Road."
