A THIRD man charged with the murder of the Chinese national found in the canal near Burn in March last year appeared in York Magistrates' Court today.

Police investigating the murder of 38-yr-old Chen Cai Guan, whose body was recovered from the canal at Burn on March 20, 2009, charged Wang Shaozhe, 23, from Dong Bei in China with murder on Thursday (March 4).

The 23-year-old was one of two defendants charged on December 22 with perverting the course of justice in connection with the murder.

Bao Lung Huang, 44, of Fujian in China and Zhouli Zhang, 49, of Dong Bei Wang Shaozhe, had been charged with the murder in Decemeber 2009 and are expected to stand trial at Leeds Crown Court later this year.

This now makes a total of three murder charges and two to pervert the course of justice charges between four original defendants.

The victim, Chen Cai Guan from Fujian, China was living in the UK under his assumed name of Bing lin.

An off-duty officer discovered the body in the canal while he was fishing.
