A SELBY nursing home closed to new residents after complaints about standards of care could reopen after "significant improvements" were made.
The Selby Times exclusively revealed earlier this year how Brooklands Nursing Home had been suspended from North Yorkshire County Council's residential provider list after watchdogs received an anonymous tip-off.
Concerns were raised after two cases in which patients suffered unexplained bruising at the Leeds Road site.
An NYCC spokesman said this week admissions are still not being allowed by inspectors, but a further review will take place in the near future.
He added: "At the moment, the position is the same – Brooklands is still suspended from the list.
"But because of some significant improvements there, it has been proposed to remove that suspension. It's something we're now going to look at."
NYCC and The Commission for Social Care conducted an investigation that included supporting staff, monitoring training and conducting interviews with patients' families.
Staff at the local landmark site, Jumbo Castle, said the health and safety of residents was of "paramount importance".
A new manager has now been appointed, and several families of patients have written to the Selby Times since we broke the story praising staff and the excellent care they provide.
The privately-owned home, which caters for more than 40 patients, received a one-star 'adequate' rating during last year's CSCI check.
