MORE jobs are poised to be lost in Selby after it was confirmed two key town centre shops will close.
Birthdays shut this week after company chiefs revealed the Gowthorpe branch wasn't among 196 stores nationwide saved by parent firm Clinton Cards.

The company was placed into administration last month, but administrators have managed to bring back some outlets from the brink after agreeing a rescue package that safeguards 1,450 jobs.

Electrical giant Currys will also close in town when its lease expires next month, with the loss of three full-time and three part-time staff.

The firm said the shutdown was agreed as part of a decision to reduce its portfolio of stores down from 177 to 100. The six staff could be found work elsewhere in the organisation.
