HUNDREDS of cyclists turned out in the scorching sunshine on May 11 to take part in the 22nd Great Selby Times Bike Ride.
Entrants of all ages and abilities turned up at Barlby High School for 25 and 45-mile family fun fund-raisers started by BBC Radio York presenter Elly Fiorentini for the 15th time.
Jonathan Geldard, part of Mura martial arts team that raised £1,000 of £7,400 total last year, said: "I try to enter this each year and this time the team I'm cycling with aim to raise £300 to £400."
PC Chris Ryan of Selby Police, who was joined by wife Nicky and daughter Evie, aged four, said: "This is a great excuse for getting out with my family and getting fit. Next year I hope to be part of a police team so I'd better start training now."
Even a pair of little devils complete with horns on their cycle helmets - Bryony McFarlane, 13, and friend Hannah Priddy, 12 - joined their families for the ride.
Hannah's sister Grace, aged ten, dad Andy and Bryony's dad Stuart were also there along with family friend Andy Lickley, 17.
Andy said: "It's great to be joining in this fun event with family and friends. We did this last year, it's always a good laugh and raises money for a number of good causes."
Veteran cyclist Alistair Cowdy, 60, said: "This is the tenth time I've entered this event. It's always a great occasion and a good community fund-raiser."
This year 650 took part with Selby Lions' event organiser David Jones thanking all who supported the annual event, especially sponsors Selby Times.
He urged entrants to get sponsorship money in as soon as possible by taking paying-in slips attached to entry forms to Halifax Bank.
Proceeds will be shared between British Heart Foundation, Martin House Hospice, St Leonard's Hospice, Arthritis Research Campaign and Selby District Lions' own local charities.
He added: "This was another superb event. Everyone played their part in making this a successful day."
