Woman’s ‘outrageous’ night
A SELBY woman seen on CCTV rolling around in the road and assaulting a member of a pub’s door staff later described her behaviour as “outrageous”, a court heard last Thursday.
Toni Hill, 25, a single mother of two of Carr Street pleaded guilty before the town’s magistrates to charges of assault by beating and using threatening behaviour.
Sandra White, prosecuting, told how a CCTV operator came across Hill on the night of January 11 staggering along Gowthorpe before falling over and rolling in the road. She was then seen to take off her stiletto shoes and run across the road to the New Inn and, after being told by door staff to go home, punched out at one of them, Ashley Dolman, causing him some pain to his jaw.
The court heard that Hill walked off, throwing her shoes and handbag at the windows of the HSBC Bank and was then arrested as she attempted to flee the scene.
During interview Hill told the police that she had drunk a litre bottle of vodka, was “hammered” and, after viewing the CCTV coverage, described her actions as “outrageous”.
Passing sentence, magistrate Ian Franks said it was “totally unacceptable” for a young woman to act in such a way.
Hill received a 12 week curfew on Friday and Saturday nights between 7pm and 7am. She was also ordered to pay compensation of £50 and costs of £85.
