Wanted man arrested in Selby

POLICE arrested a 38-year-old man wanted on warrant on Sunday night (February 10) after a car he was travelling in failed to stop for police officers in the Selby area.

At around 9pm officers on routine patrol spotted the vehicle in which he was a passenger on the A19 near Riccall. The vehicle failed to stop for the officers who followed it until it came to a halt on Brayton Lane in the Selby area.

The man, who ran off from the vehicle once it had stopped, was arrested nearby on Brayton Lane.

He was wanted in connection with failing to appear at York Magistrates’ Court on theft and driving charges and is from the West Yorkshire area. He has been remanded in custody to appear at York Magistrates’ today, Tuesday February 12.

The 33-year-old woman driver of the vehicle who is also from West Yorkshire, was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and assisting an offender. She has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
