Unique ale’s Scottish flavour hits the town
TASTY: Yorkshiree Ales tipples.
A REAL ale lovers paradise is giving a celebration beer a huge boost by acting as exclusive stockists of the tasty brew.
Yorkshire Ales, of The Manor House, Selby Road in Snaith, is stocking Marooned – a nod to the maroon colours of Heart of Midlothian – an ale celebrating Heart of Midlothian’s victory over Hibernian in last season’s Scottish cup final.
Yorkshire Ale’s co-owner Adrian Pettitt said York-based Hearts supporters club teamed up with North Riding Brew Pub in Scarborough to produce the ale and it had proved a spectacular hit with fans.
The beer was originally intended as a small run for the York club Burns night celebration. But word spread and brewer Stuart Nielson and his distributor Adrian Pettitt of Yorkshire Ales in Snaith have been inundated with inquiries and orders from all over Britain and even as far away as Canada. The ale has an ABV of 5.1 per cent matching the 5-1 score. It includes a hop called Dr Rudi chosen in favour of cup final hero Rudi Skacel who scored twice in the cup final. Adrian Pettitt of Yorkshire Ales said: “It is a privilege to help Stuart with the release of marooned in bottles and has been a great fillip for small independent shop like us.”
