Support group’s first meeting

A NEW network is being developed for staff from the voluntary community and statutory sectors in Selby district.

The new Selby Network will be initially funded by the transforming local infrastructure fund and aims to bring together all those whose work involves development of communities, groups and individuals across the area. The first meeting will be held on September 25 at 12noon and will be followed by lunch.

Steven Shaw-Wright, sustainability officer at Selby Association for Voluntary Services, said: “This new group aims to foster collaborative working across the district during a period of austerity and challenge, for support providers from all sectors and interests.

“The theme which perhaps unites all interests is the aim of building community resilience and creativity to enable communities in both rural and urban areas to thrive over the next decade.

“There are lots of people working across the district doing great work supporting a variety of projects.

“However, many of them work in isolation and sometimes aren’t aware of the help and support available from other workers in similar positions.”
