HEADING out of Selby, and into Africa are a group of local school teachers.
Joanne Farmery spoke to the Selby Times, being one of four people selected to head abroad because of their schools’ links with Zambia.
In July Hambleton, Cawood, North Duffield and Selby High schools successfully applied for a grant for the British Council to qualify for extra funding to continue the ‘Global Partnerships’ they had developed for a year with schools in Zambia in 2012.
The four teachers are Jo Farmery, Alix Peacock, Liz Bows and Rebecca Harwood, respectively, and they are now arranging to visit their link schools in Mongu, Western Zambia, later this month for 11 days.
Four teachers from the link schools in Zambia are making a return visit in April.
Jo told the Selby Times: “Children from all schools are partaking in joint projects and will be sharing work a a result of these trips.”
