Spreading festive cheer
Coucnillor John Barratt and his wife Sue enjoying a Christmas meal at The Bay Horse, East Cowick, served by Landlord Chris Gregory.
ENJOYING festive fare and fun was East Riding and Snaith and Cowick town councillor, John Barrett, as he travelled around the region.
John told the Selby Times: “Towards the end of 2012, the Snaith area and the community dealt with some very sad occasions. However, this is a wonderful area to live. The friendly people have ensured that we can all enjoy and get into the festive spirit.
“Businesses in the area have worked hard so that we can all enjoy ourselves at very little or no cost, with the help of willing volunteers.”
He added: “Snaith & Cowick Choral Society put on shows at both The Brewers Arms and Cowick Church, for free. We were also treated to a free concert by South Milford Brass Band at the Brewers Arms.
“The Snaith & Cowick Drama group kindly gave up their time to put on a panto at Snaith School. Park Lodge Shooting Club put on a Santa’s grotto, with reindeer and craft stalls.
“All in all the people of our area were helped to allow us all to have a merry Christmas and I thank everyone for what they have done and are doing in this regard. I hope we can all have a good year in 2013.”
ERYC Councillor, Caroline Fox added: “I am sure the people of the Snaith area have come together to make this time of year a special time after the sad events that have occurred and I wish all a happy new year.”
