Rush hour misery for motorists as A1 closed in both directions

DRIVERS are battling rush hour misery following an accident that has closed the A1(M) in both directions.
The motorway is closed near Darrington, north of Doncaster, after an early morning collision involving three lorries on the northbound carriageway.
The accident has also closed the southbound carriageway following the incident at around 4.45am.
One of the lorry drivers is believed to have been seriously injured in the crash which is being attended to by fire and police crews from West Yorkshire Police.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said drivers were being advised to avoid the area.
In a separate incident, the A1(M) southbound between junctions 34 and 35 is closed after reports of a bush on fire. Crews from South Yorkshire fire service are attending the blaze which was reported at 8.30 this morning.
