Power cut at Tesco in Selby

POWER CUT: Tesco power cut.

POWER CUT: Tesco power cut.

THOUSANDS of pounds worth of frozen food stock had to be discarded after a power cut at Tesco supermarket in Selby on Wednesday (Fenruray 6).

Power, which was cut off at about 6am, was still to be restored to the Portholme Road store as this online article was published.

Duty manager at the store, who did not wish to be named, said every freezer unit in store was affected and a temporary generator was being used while external power was restored, but Tesco remained open.

She added: “This is of course a big inconvenience to our customers and staff. We hope to get things back to normal as soon as possible. All frozen food items had to be discarded and we will have to re-stock.”
