It was stolen at around 11.50am on Wednesday June 20, 2012. A woman had withdrawn a large amount of money from Barclays Bank on Parliament Street in York. A short time later, when she was in a nearby shop, she realised that the money was missing.

The victim had seen the man caught on CCTV in both the bank and the shop a few minutes before the money was found to be missing.

The man officers are trying to trace is white with a medium build and short dark hair.

PC Frances Myers, of York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “If this is you featured on CCTV and you are not responsible for the theft, I urge you to get in touch with the police immediately so that you can be eliminated from my enquiries.

“I also need to speak to anyone else who can identify the man and ask that they get in touch with the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”

Anyone who can help with this enquiry is asked to contact York police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Frances Myers. Alternatively information can be emailed to Frances.myers@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
