PICTURE GALLERY - Jimmy Savile stars at James Bond charity fund-raiser thriller

GLAMOROUS high rollers hit the town on Friday when Caesars @ the Abbey restaurant hosted a James Bond-themed casino night to raise vital cash for Selby Hands of Hope.

Ladies were dressed in all their finery and the gents wore black tie, apart from guest of honour Jimmy Savile, who wore his customary tracksuit and jewellery!

More than 100 guests splashed the funny cash as they played the roulette table of Missdeal and helped to raise funds for the Selby Times-backed charity.

Entertainment was provided by musical duo Twin Souls, who gave their modern up-tempo versions of Shirley Bassey classics, including Bond movie themes Diamonds Are Forever and Goldfinger.

Selby Hands of Hope chairwoman Wendy Singh said: "What a great night. Guest of honour Jimmy Savile made sure he met and greeted every guest before eating a meal himself.

"Restaurant manager Mia did a great job in hosting the event, and we made 785 on the night thanks to guests, made up to 1,000, thanks to the generosity of restaurant owner Saleem Akhtar."

To offer help to SHOH, or to apply for help from the charity, visit the www.selbyhandsofhope.org.uk website, contact Wendy via wendy@selbyhandsofhope.org.uk or on 07548 223066.

You can also apply in writing to the Selby Times office, 74-76 Gowthorpe, Selby YO8 4ET or call into the office.
