PROUD pupils and staff at Rawcliffe Primary School are celebrating after receiving an outstanding Ofsted report from inspectors.

The school is delighted to have been recognised as ‘good’ overall following the inspection on November 21 and 22 with ‘Behaviour and Safety of Pupils’ rated as ‘outstanding’.

Many areas of the school’s work were praised with inspectors saying: “The quality of teaching is mostly good and some is outstanding. Good teaching is helping pupils to learn and make good progress. Typical features include well-planned, enjoyable lessons with activities matched carefully to pupils’ needs and interests, high expectations of what pupils can achieve and effective questioning skills, particularly by teachers, to extend pupils’ thinking.”

The report went on to say there was excellent behaviour management so pupils got on with work purposefully and effectively, good attention to timings, so that pupils learn quickly and are fully engaged throughout the lesson, pupils behaviour, courtesy and attitudes to learning was exemplary, pupils felt very secure in school and know that adults would help them if problems arise and the school had a warm and welcoming ethos that parents and pupils valued highly.

Headteacher Sara Rockliff said: “I am really proud of the staff, pupils and governors at Rawcliffe Primary School.

“I have the pleasure of working with an extremely committed and dedicated staff and I am pleased that their good practice and teamwork, which has ensured that pupils make good progress in a happy and secure learning environment, has been recognised.

“The pupils’ attitudes to learning and their behaviour are exemplary and they are a credit to themselves, their school and their families. Now that the school has been recognised as good we will continue on our mission to aim high and reach for the stars.”
