No shaggy dog story for Gordon and his Lad

TOP handlers in the country and their dogs were unleashed when the annual Sheepdog Trial was held in Skipwith.

Among them were One Man and His Dog commentator Jim Cropper and his family of top handlers.

Others had travelled from as far afield as Forfar in Scotland to attend the fourth annual event, held by kind permission of Charlie and Rosalind Forbes-Adam of Escrick Park and organised by international dog trainer, breeder and shepherd at the Park, John Atkinson.

World champion Gordon Watt and his family from Corbridge, Northumberland, swept the board with Gordon taking first place on the Saturday with his dog, Lad, and his wife Kerry taking first place on the Sunday with her dog, Flo.

They were among a total of 92 dogs which competed over the two days.
