New consultation on Olympia Park

THE latest in a series of consultation events about the planned massive development of Barlby’s Olympia Park BOCM site took place last Thursday.

The plans - as revealed last year by the Selby Times – could see as many as 2,000 new jobs and 1,000 new homes come to the district as part of a mixed residential and commercial development.

Over 50 people attended the consultation at Barlby Bridge Primary School. The event allowed members of the community to view and comment on technical information relating to highways, flood, drainage, noise and the environment.

Local’s comments have helped to shape the latest version of the masterplan which can be viewed at www.olympiapark.co.uk.

Comments collected at the event have been analysed by the developers and passed on to consultants to help with the evolution of the development proposals. All exhibition boards on display at the event can be downloaded from the above web address.

Adrian Spawforth, from project architects and planning consultants Spawforth’s, said: “We were pleased at the number of local people who continue to attend these events and who show real interest in the proposals.

“While we recognize that some people still have concerns about the impact of the scheme, we will continue to develop our ideas to try and minimize the impact of these issues over the coming months.

“The fact that in the last 18 months of consultation we have gone from Masterplan one to Masterplan 12 hopefully confirms that we are listening and trying to find practical solutions. Thank you to all who attended.”
