A special toilet has been fitted at Goole Leisure Centre, which can be used in comfort by those who cannot use standard accessible facilities.

For people with a range of severe disabilities, this is the latest facility in the East Riding to meet the exacting standards of ‘Changing Places’, a Mencap-supported consortium that campaigns on behalf of those that cannot use standard accessible toilets.

The toilet is now advertised on the ‘Changing Places’ national website and is one of seven in council properties with four in leisure centres and four more planned over the next three years.

‘Changing Places’ toilets have enough space and the right equipment, including a height-adjustable changing bench and ceiling hoist, to meet the needs of the disabled.
