CHAPEL Haddlesley pub the Jug Inn is celebrating the success of its second beer festival this year – and landlord Phil Topps promises that the boozer’s third fest in November will really go off with a bang!
Around 200 people attended last week’s event. Phil said: “It was great – everybody seemed to have a smashing time – the staff and myself certainly did!”
Many of the drinkers who showed up got a free drink on the Selby Times, courtesy of the free half pint voucher that appeared in your favourite weekly read.
Phil said:“There must have been a lot of your readers there, because the vouchers were used a lot.
“We had 15 real ales available, as well as a lager and a traditional style scrumpy – that went down very well, but it caused a few sore heads the next morning!
“We’re now planning for Fawkes fest on November 2 and 3, which will feature a free fireworks display on the Saturday night.”
So a host of lucky drinkers will be seeing stars – but hopefully not too many pink elephants!
