MEDIA-MAD Italian Enrico Porro has just increased his vast collection of newspapers from across the world - with a pizza the Selby Times!
During the past 20 years, the Milan man has collected more than 2,500 different newspapers, which now fill the home he shares with wife Monica, their two-year-old daughter Sofia and pet cat Gattuso.
He recently sent an e-mail to the Selby Times asking for us to add to his collection with a copy of the town's favourite read. And we were only too pleased to support his Italian job!
Enrico said: "I love newspapers! I am a media-mad newspaper collector, whose main objective is to succeed in collecting newspapers day after day without anyone stopping me.
"I will be very happy when I reach my goal of owning 5,000 newspapers from around the world.
"I am fascinated by the tabloid size of all the UK papers. I love reading newspapers to understand how people live differently across the world and read about events like wars, earthquakes and world-wide sport."
Enrico's collection has tripled in size in recent years thanks to the internet, where he recently came across the Selby Times website www.selbytoday.co.uk and decided to contact us.
Editor Chris Page said: "Mamma Mia! I never knew our circulation area spread so far but I can't blame him for wanting a pizza the action!"
Added Enrico: "I began collecting when I was in the military stationed near the Austrian border, perhaps because I was bored.
"Now, as well as travelling the world, I connect myself to a website of the newspapers and through the e-mail I write telling my history and asking for a copy of the papers for my collection. This method has been very successful.
"The aid greatest to me has been given by my friends and my colleagues in my job as an art director for a Milan advertising agency. Every time they went to a foreign country for work, they recovered me some rare pieces."
