Good sports Get Set for event

SELBY’S sports fans are gearing up for Sunday’s Get Set event which brings together sporting and leisure organisations from around the district.

The aim of Get Set, which takes place at Barlby High School from noon until 4pm, is to showcase the sporting and leisure opportunities available in Selby. It’s fun, free and open to everyone.

Sporting clubs such as football, cricket, touch rugby, boxing, bowls, walking, martial arts, water sports and netball groups will be recruiting new members at the special family and friends’ fun day as will the Scout and Guiding organisations.

The day will also feature a police dogs demonstration, a tug of war between the police and fire service and a mass Zumba event to raise funds for Breast Cancer Research.

Visitors will also have the chance to try out some of the sports available. The event has been facilitated by the Eastern Area Community Engagement Forum and supported by Drax Power Limited.

Chairman of the Eastern Area CEF, Coun Bill Inness said: “We hope that as many people as possible come along to find out about all the exciting and different clubs running in this area.

“Organising this event has really opened my eyes as to the wide variety of clubs and organisations that are out there.
