NATURE and the environment were high on the agenda when youngsters at Turnbridge Day Nursery in Cowick joined in the fun at its out-of-school club.
Nursery manager Jeanette Eslpy said the nature work – part of the art school section – had involved trips to the Skylight Centre at Drax and Barlow Nature Reserve.
She added: “The children had a really great time. Ideas they picked up from the Skylight Centre and items they had picked up from their field trip to Barlow Nature Reserve were incorporated into collages they made at the Turnbridge Centre.
“They also assisted owners of the nursery Glen and Samantha Mitchell, laying turf in the centre’s outdoor area, which has been earmarked as a nature zone. This should be finished by the end of the summer holidays and will consist of a quiet area for the children, a dipping pond and shrubs, flowers and plants.”
She further added: “We have had different themed weeks throughout the summer including transport and a visit to Doncaster Airport.
“Next week we will have a week of activities based around the emergency services and invite in members of the fire service, ambulance service and a community police support officer.”
