IT’S knit one, purl one for charity at Selby Abbey Primary School.

The school’s knitting club’s flashing fingers have been beetling away knitting the smallest hats imaginable – titfers that will fit Sainsbury’s smoothie bottles!

For every bottle with a hat on 25p will be donated to charity Age UK.

Headteacher Jo Jennings said: “Mrs Buttery has continued to spearhead our fantastic knitting club with invaluable support from Mrs Thompson and Mrs Vollans. Feedback from the children has been very positive and included such comments as ‘It’s awesome’ and ‘You can take it home and do some more’!

“Colin Hunter, our chair of governors was really impressed with the knitting group’s woolly creations and extremely proud of their commitment to each other.”
