A GROUP promoting a different way of carrying babies got into the ‘sling’ of things at two launch events.
Selby NCT’s new Sling Library got under way at NCT Bumps and Babies Whitley and Eggborough Children’s Centre with a host of parents and children (pictured), as well as a raffle and some glasses of non-alcoholic bubbly.
There was also a launch event at NCT Bumps, Babies and Beyond at Selby North Children’s Centre.
The group says that carrying your baby in a sling increases feelings of wellbeing, reduces post-natal depression, and reduces the chances of babies crying if you carry them for three hours or more per day.
Laura Collins, Selby NCT Sling Library co-ordinator, said: “We already have an amazing group of babywearers in Selby NCT. By offering a sling library we want to share our knowledge with local families to help them explore the different options in order to find the right sling for them.
“I found personally that wearing my baby Merryn in a sling means I can get on with everyday tasks whilst still having my baby close to me.”
Sling Library offers parents the chance to try out different slings until they find the one that suits them for a donation of £7.50 per hire for a month. The Sling Library will be available on the last Tuesday of each month (10am-12midday) at Whitley and Eggborough, and on the last Friday of each month (10am-12midday) at Selby.
