LOCAL author Maggie Whitley is toasting her first book signing after an appearance at Selby Library.

Maggie, from Riccall, has recently penned her second novel ‘The Kettles Boil’ which was showcased at last weekend’s event.

The book is the follow-up to her first title ‘The Adventures of the Great Alfonso (and his brother Ronnie)’ and documents the tales of a pair of brothers and a rescue dog whom they grow attached to and in the process, get up to a raft of adventures.

Maggie says the book is primarily aimed at teenagers but that it has also captured the imagination of adults.

She said: “The book is aimed at the young teenage market but I’ve had feedback from adults saying they also enjoyed reading it.”

“They (the books) are about young brothers who take on a rescue dog and it’s just old-fashioned adventures without any malice.

“The book-signing was really good, I made some good contacts and it generated some interest in the books which was what the day was all about really.”

Maggie added that she would be returning to the library for their annual Reading Day later this year, whilst she was also invited along to read to schoolchildren by a teacher who attended the signing on the day.

‘The Adventures of the Great Alfonso (and his brother Ronnie)’ is available to buy from Amazon.co.uk whilst ‘The Kettles Boil’ will also be available to buy soon.
