PROSPECTIVE Premiership stars and footy fanatics are getting the chance to strut their stuff at Athelstan Primary School.
The school’s weekly Little Kickers sessions are helping the youngsters develop their dribbling and sharpen up their shooting – and assistant head teacher Caroline Hutton says that everyone involved is reaching their goal.
“We do it every week in term time and it’s been a big hit with the children,” she said. “It’s another after school activity and one they really seem to enjoy – children from the reception class upward are involved.”
And, keeping it in the family, the soccer sessions are run by Caroline’s husband, Philip, a FA qualified coach.”They do one session indoors in the hall, and the other outside,” said Caroline. “It helps keep the children fit, it improves their motor skills and helps them to learn to work as part of a team – it’s certainly something we’re going to carry on doing.”
