Over 150 young students have a spring in their step after passing their dance exams with flying colours!
80 students from Miss Hannah’s school of dance and 70 from Monk Fryston school of dance had been working hard since last September to get ready for the January exams.
Exams taken included tap, ballet, modern and disco, with students ranging in age from three right up to 16.
Hannah Howcroft, dance teacher at Miss Hannah’s, said: “The weekend that saw the bad snow was the weekend we were set to do the exams. I got a phone call late on the Friday night to say that the examiner (coming from Rochdale who had the snow much worse than here) would not be able to attend.
“This was the first time in the examiner’s 35-year career that she was unable to attend an exam session!

“The head office of the Dance association advised us to continue with the session as planned and to video each performance so that the examiner could still assess them.
“Out of the 150 students only four were unable to attend due to the bad weather so most exams went ahead.
“The students were all brilliant and there was a 100% pass rate!”
Hannah added that the students are now working towards the Summer Shows.
