Police have issued CCTV footage of a man who is suspected of daubing the words ‘Dale Cregan Hero’ on the walls of a Doncaster police station.

Cregan has been charged with the murder of police officers Nicola Hughes and Fiona Bone in Manchester.

South Yorkshire Police say that the words were daubed in large white letters on Edlington Police Station around 11.45pm on Friday, September 21.

The man officers wish to talk to is white and of a thin build. He is aged between 25 and 35 years-old and has prominent cheekbones with a gaunt expression.

He was wearing a long sleeved, hooded tracksuit type top and tracksuit bottoms and appeared to be carrying a white bag in his right hand.

Sergeant Richard Vernon from the Edlington Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “This was a despicable act of vandalism which has caused a great deal of distress to police officers and members of the local community. I would urge anyone with any information to please come forward.”

Anyone with any information about this incident is urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident 1290 of 21/09/2012.
