College’s new offer

SELBY district students are being invited to consider carrying on their studies at Pontefract’s New College.

A college spokeswoman said: “Our students’ average point score exceeds that of every other state-funded post-16 provider, our A level success rate of 95 per cent reflects not only our impressive pass rate but also our 98 per cent retention rate and our overall success rate is well above the national average.

“We also offer an extensive range of courses which can be studied in any combination, our progress tutors offer unrivalled professional expertise and experience with 16 to 18 year olds and our unique tracking system will ensure at all times you have a live window onto your teenager’s attendance and attainment.

Former Sherburn High School student Rebecca Clayton said: “New College is really friendly and everybody is welcomed by both teachers and students, there is always lots of help from your teachers.

“You learn new skills all the time and work in a way you wouldn’t have the opportunity to do in other lessons.”

Bethany Frost-Lunn, formerly of Snaith School added: “Study Support at NEW College is very beneficial for any student. I went for extra help and advice on passing my GCSE Maths. The person I worked with was not only friendly, supportive and encouraging, but I passed my Maths with a better result than expected! Business is a challenging subject. At New College you learn something new every lesson.”
