Campaigning MP’s surgery
LISTENING MP Nigel Adams will invite the people of Sherburn to his first-ever surgery in the village when he visits on Saturday.
The visit is in response to villagers asking him to meet them face to face for discussion on all manner of subjects.
The member for Selby and Ainsty was elected in 2010, but has never held a surgery in Sherburn since that time, but decided he would do so after numerous requests by constituents.
He said: “I have made private visits to people in Sherburn before but this will be the first time I have held a surgery there. It will be from 10am to noon at Sherburn Library in Finkle Hill.
“I already regularly hold surgeries in Selby and Tadcaster and around the district in places such as Eggborough, Tockwith and Spoforth and they are always well-attended and give local people the chance to air their views and raise any kind of issue. This will be an opportunity for those who want to raise anything to come along.”
One person responsible for getting Mr Adams to visit is Sherburn councillor Mike Jordan who said: “It will be great to see Nigel here. There will also be a private room set aside for private meetings.”
