Booze busts
NEARLY five per cent of drivers breathalysed in Selby over the holiday season was arrested.
From 342 breath tests in December 16 arrests were made in Selby district by North Yorkshire Police – across the county there were 114 arrests from 3455 breath tests.
Traffic sergeant Pete Stringer, of the force’s roads policing group, said: “It is concerning that we have made so many arrests since December 1 and it appears that some people just aren’t getting the message.
“People need to understand that drink driving is simply not acceptable and the police will keep making arrests for as long as motorists keep putting lives at risk through drink or drug driving.”
