A MOMENTARY burst of speed to test how fast his new motorbike could go landed a speeding biker with a six month ban when he appeared at Selby Magistrates’ Court (November 8).
Gary Dobson, 40, from Halifax, was caught by police doing 144mph on the A63 in South Milford on his BMW RR 1000 motorcycle on October 7 – the highest speed for a motorbike ever recorded on a North Yorkshire road.
Dobson, who had pleaded guilty to the offence at an earlier hearing, was back before the court for sentence.
He was fined £500 with a £50 victim surcharge, ordered to pay £45 costs and disqualified from driving for six months. For full story see the November 15 edition of the Selby Times.
