Beat the burglars advise police
SELBY police are asking residents across the district to keep an eye out for suspicious behaviour. The request follows a small increase in the number of daytime burglaries committed in recent weeks.
Two men aged 25 and 33, from Leeds have been arrested in connection with a number of these offences, as a result of information supplied by the community.
Acting Inspector Ian McNiff, of Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I would like to thank the public for their support to reduce the numbers of burglaries across the area. They have clearly paid attention to the crime messages we have previously issued. It is very encouraging to see how many people are making life as difficult as possible for opportunist burglars.
“Everyone can play a continued part to put a stop to the activities of the more determined burglars, who wrongly think they can commit crime in our communities.
“If you see any unusual behaviour or people acting in a suspicious manner please report it to the police on 999 immediately. Residents are urged to stay alert. We would far rather respond to calls that are made with good intent but turn out to have an innocent explanation, than people suffering the upset of being the victims of crime.”
