Allan’s job plea
A DETERMINED hard-working handyman will work for nothing if someone would give him the chance of a job.
Allan Taylor, 42, has always been known in Selby town centre as a hard worker and reliable, but 18 months on from a plea for work he has been unable to find a job.
And that is despite him offering to do two weeks of work for free.
Mr “Gizza Job” Taylor said he had been unsuccessful despite filling in dozens of application forms and he was desperate to prove his worth to any employer willing to take a chance on him.
His previous employment includes a job at WH Whisker fruit and veg store on Gowthorpe from the ages of 16 to 18 and work in fruit and veg shop Arthur Stores in Goole from the ages of 18 to 34 years.
He said: “I would do anything to get a job. It’s 18 months on since I first asked for a job and I have to tell employers I’m willing to work for free for the first two weeks.
“This way they can see what I can do and then decide if they want to take me on full time.
“I’ve always been known as a hard worker and I won’t let anyone down. I will do just about anything to get back into work.
“Hours I work aren’t a problem. I previously worked from 6am to 4pm, four-days-a-week, so you can see I’m not shy of getting up in the morning.”
Allan (left) has already been the victim of a bogus caller after someone left a message for him saying there was a job at Tesco supermarket.
This turned out to be a hoax job advert.
Allan said: “It’s hard enough looking for work without someone saying there is a job up for grabs when there isn’t one.
“It’s very disheartening.”
Anyone who has an offer of work for Allan can call him on 07706 827392. (Allan Taylor 2) Picture: Nigel Booth
