Problems at an accident blackspot in Goole are about to get worse, despite installation of traffic calming measures by East Riding of Yorkshire authority, a concerned councillor has warned.
A chicane at the junction of Oxford Road has created a bottleneck and “an accident waiting to happen” says councillor Keith Moore. He warned another promised chicane at the Clifton Gardens junction opposite would exacerbate the problem and added: “This decision for two chicanes at the busy crossroads forcing traffic into a single lane goes against all logic. None of the residents in the area think this is a good idea.” An ERYC spokesman said: “A speeding survey was carried out Traffic calming measures have been put in place as a result of the area’s collision history and speeding issues. A raised platform will be put in to slow vehicles down.”
