The parents of Jamie Inglis, the seven-year old who tragically passed away after a long battle with childhood cancer neuroblastoma, have asked for his funeral service to be a celebration of his life.
Hundreds of people are expected to line the streets of the York as the service first passes through the centre before making its way to the city’s Minster at 10am on Friday, February 8.
John and Vicky Inglis, from Kelfield, posted on social networking site Facebook, saying the service will be a celebration of their young son’s life.
The post read: “It will be so lovely to see as many of you as possible at Jamie’s service....it will be very moving, beautiful and special....just like Jamie.
“We would prefer people to come in colourful clothing or if you only have dark or drab clothing then a splash of colour would be fine.”
Jamie died peacefully in hospital in Tubingden, Germany, where he was treated for four months.
He had fought a brave battle against his condition since 2009 but it was on January 14 this year that he passed away.
Vicky and John have now asked supporters to keep fundraising to help other children with neuroblastoma.
This includes friends that Jamie made while undergoing treatment, Ryan Edwards and Robyn Higgins.
An ‘In memoriam’ fund has also been set up and it can be found at http://www.justgiving.com/In-Memory-of-Jamie-Inglis.
