Bringing a taste of Snaith to Portugal
East Riding Councillor John Barrett continues to promote tourism for the area whilst in Alvor on the Algarve, Portugal.
PEOPLE in a Portuguese fishing village have been told all about Snaith by a town councillor who has just been on holiday there.
East Riding councillor John Barrett promoted the tourist appeal of Snaith while holidaying in Alvor, which is in the popular region of the Algarve in Portugal.
He even handed out some Snaith and Cowick mugs, which are sold at File Leader Graphics on Selby Road, Snaith.
Coun Barrett said: “Over the last ten years I have made some good friends in the Alvor area of the Algarve. Whilst visiting the town on this occasion I was able to meet numerous people to promote our area.
“I had arranged to meet the town mayor but unfortunately a fire occurred in a large shopping complex and the meeting had to be cancelled on this occasion.
“My hope is that people I have met will visit our area whilst in the UK. Some have already said they will visit us as early as this November!”
